CMI Alumni Meet, 8 August 2026
Dear all, As announced, CMI Alumni Meet is being held on August 8th at CMI. A tentative schedule is given below. All events will be in Seminar Hall. 10:30: Meeting of the alumni association. 11:30: Discussion of alumni activities where all of us fellow alumni participate so let each and every one of us come with ideas to share. 12:30: Lunch. 14:30: Alumni Student Networking followed by Proposal for setting up Innovation Lab at CMI by Sudhir Kumar, Koushik Ragavan, and Kumar Madhukar

All events will be in Seminar Hall. 10:30: Meeting of the alumni association. 11:30: Commemoration of 25 years of CMI undergraduate programme. 12:30: Lunch. 14:30: More meetings and informal gatherings in smaller groups. 16:00: Online meeting of CMI alumni at the link in the WhatsApp group. 18:30: Banquet at Sabari. CMI Alumni Meet, 17 Jan, 2026.
Dear all, We will have a CMI Alumni Meet at CMI on January 17, 2026. The program will begin around 10 am and conclude with a banquet dinner. 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of the graduation of CMI’s first B.Sc. batch. To celebrate this, we are planning a special session that day where students and staff from those early years can reminisce about life in CMI back then and share interesting anecdotes.

CMI Alumni Meet 2025 - January
Summary Key Announcements Official Registration Process The official registration process of the alumni association is underway. As part of this process, we are compiling a list of all the members. During the alumni meet, we spent some time creating a file with a list of all the members. Regular Meeting Schedule Going forward the alumni association will have two in-person meetings every year: First Saturday of August after the odd semester begins in CMI First Saturday after Pongal in January So the next two meetings will be on August 9, 2025 and January 17, 2026. Please plan accordingly!
The First Distinguished CMIAA Lecture - GenAI and Entrepreneurship

CMI Alumni Meet 2024
About The CMI Alumni Meet on January 20, 2024, continued the tradition of bringing together alumni to reconnect, discuss initiatives, and engage with current students. This gathering also focused on formally establishing the CMI Alumni Association and strengthening alumni involvement in institutional activities. Key Highlights Alumni Association Overview Mailing list updated 2023 onwards, everyone is a part of the Alumni Association, unless they opt out. CMI Alumni Meet 2023
About The CMI Alumni Meet on January 14, 2023, provided a platform for alumni to reconnect, discuss the future of the alumni association, and engage with current students. The agenda was open-ended, focusing on alumni involvement and institutional support. Key Focus Areas Strengthening Alumni Association A major focus of the meet was on strengthening the alumni association and improving communication among members. There was a discussion about creating dedicated channels, such as a forum or messaging groups, to facilitate regular updates and collaboration. Ensuring that alumni remain connected with the institution and each other was seen as a priority.
CMI Alumni Meet Online 2022
About On November 24, 2022, the CMI Alumni Association hosted a Zoom catch-up to reconnect with alumni and get the ball rolling on alumni activities again. It had been a while since the last official meeting, so this was a great opportunity to bring everyone together, hear ideas, and figure out how to keep the association active. There was no set agenda—just an open space for conversation, brainstorming, and planning what comes next.
Contributions to CMI Corpus
Appeal for Alumni Contributions On September 11, 2017, Professor C.S. Seshadri, Director-Emeritus of CMI, reached out to alumni, emphasizing the institution’s academic excellence and its growing reputation in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Physics. He highlighted the significance of alumni contributions in supporting leading institutions worldwide and urged former students to play a similar role in CMI’s growth. Due to challenges in securing government funding, he appealed for donations to the CMI corpus, suggesting contributions of $1500 or Rs 1,00,000, either as a single payment or through annual installments. Alumni were encouraged to share this request with others who might be interested in supporting CMI.
NAAC Session 2016
About CMI underwent a mandatory accreditation process through the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), with the evaluation visit taking place from April 19-21, 2016. As part of this process, CMI aimed to present information about the post-CMI careers of its alumni to the NAAC team. A special session was organized on April 19, where alumni and parents had the opportunity to interact with the NAAC team. Alumni were also encouraged to share brief summaries of their career paths, particularly those outside academia.
1st CMI Alumni Conference - Silver Jubilee Celebration
About CMI was established on October 10, 1989. As part of the year-long Silver Jubilee celebrations, a conference was organized at CMI where the speakers were alumni (former members and students). Various alumni of CMI who had established themselves in academia in Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, and other related subjects gave talks at the conference. It was held at the CMI campus from January 7-10, 2015 (Wednesday to Saturday). On the last day, there was the Annual General Body meeting of the CMI Alumni Association.
